Lean processes through integrated webshop and professional fulfillment

From the very beginning, the couple knew they needed an ERP system to transparently map their multi-stage production process and, in particular, to professionalize batch management and customer order processing. The online shop is connected to SAP Business One via a conesprit interface. Furthermore, inventory levels are transferred from SAP Business One to the online shop via the interface. This ensures that only items that are actually in stock are sold. The online shop order is mapped to SAP Business One as a sales order. This is immediately transmitted to the shipping staff as a work order. The subsequent process steps up to the customer are almost entirely automated. This saves Phystine employees a lot of time and helps prevent errors.

A cloud solution as an indispensable added value

"With the SAP Business One Cloud, data can be captured and processed on the move at any time, without incurring hardware and maintenance costs." For us as a start-up, which has to pay close attention to the cost-benefit ratio, this is a very important aspect," explains Lara Bechter. Thanks to SAP Business One Cloud, PHYSTINE grow scalably and focus on their core business: creating products that serve to maintain or improve skin health.

Experience and expertise as a basis

His wife Lara, a biomedical scientist, is responsible for product development and approval at PHYSTINE, as well as for manufacturing and quality assurance. Clemens Bechter oversees general business, sustainability, and organizational matters. "We both have extensive experience in leading positions at international global players, so we are grateful to be able to draw on extensive expertise in all business areas," says Lara Bechter.

Reducing complexity in the production process as a success factor

Production planning at PHYSTINE is warehouse-controlled and based on multi-level production processes. Production orders for the finished products are planned based on defined minimum stock levels. By breaking down multi-level bills of materials, SAP Business One recognizes which production orders must be executed and in which order to produce these finished products.

The scheduling assistant also reveals which ingredients need to be reordered and which service providers need to be contacted so that production orders can be completed on time. "Batch management is particularly important to us. In Austria, cosmetics production is subject to food law and therefore the highest regulations regarding ingredient traceability," explains Managing Director Bechter. He continues: "With SAP Business One Cloud, we can now generate detailed analysis data sheets at any time and thus comply with all legal requirements." Ingredient traceability is also important for the annual organic certification.

For us as a startup, SAP Business One Cloud is ideal. There are no hardware or maintenance costs, and we can access the system from anywhere.

We were already familiar with SAP from our many years of professional experience in management. Therefore, it was clear that we didn't want to miss out on its added value in our own company.
