SAP Business One supports WAVELABS
Vision: Global use of renewable energies

In less than a decade, WAVELABS has developed into one of the most established names in solar measurement technology. Around 30% of all solar cell simulations are performed using a WAVELABS device. It all began with the SINUS-220, an innovative LED flasher for solar cells. The product portfolio was soon expanded to include other solar simulators, which are used in both research and development and mass production. Many major PV manufacturers now entrust their production and research to WAVELABS devices.Flasher Customers include the world's most important photovoltaic research, testing, and educational institutions.
Everything in one system – no more Excel lists
Before the introduction of SAP Business One, documents were written in Microsoft Word, and various lists were created and managed in Microsoft Excel. After approximately ten years of company growth, this approach no longer allowed for further scalability: Processes and production planning were time-consuming and maintenance-intensive. Master data had to be entered multiple times. Inventories were often opaque, and serial number tracking was confusing.
Multi-stage production processes easily planned – reducing complexity
Production planning at WAVELABS is demand-driven and based on multi-level production processes. When the WAVELABS office staff enters a new customer order in SAP Business One, they can centrally store information for their colleagues in production. By breaking down multi-level bills of materials, SAP Business One identifies which production orders need to be processed and in which order to deliver the requested item. The planning assistant reveals which components need to be ordered for which production locations so that these production orders can be completed on time. This significantly reduces process complexity.
Transparency at the touch of a button – Traceability
To produce a WAVELABS product, components with serial numbers are necessary at all stages of the production process. This information can now be retrieved at the touch of a button, right down to the lowest assembly. The conesprit standard delivery note has been enhanced with this information, allowing every customer to see which serial numbers are contained in their product.
Introduction simple and online – conesprit makes it possible
When configuring the production system, standard SAP Business One processes were used primarily. The ERP system was implemented exclusively via video telephony, online workshops, and training sessions. The WAVELABS team also drew on conesprit's extensive and detailed training materials and made extensive use of the SAP Business One workshop system provided prior to the go-live.
Award for conesprit GmbH – research, test, decide
The team of WAVELABS became aware of conesprit online. Before signing the contract, SAP Business One was thoroughly tested using a free demo system. Based on this, the decision was made in favor of conesprit and SAP Business One.
Stocks at a glance – quantity and value available at any time
The WAVELABS team now knows at all times which items are located in which warehouse location, in what quantity. They also know the inventory value. The item master data has been categorized. Some items are now replenishment-controlled based on a required minimum stock level, while others are ordered from suppliers as needed using the replenishment assistant.
SAP Business One in the cloud – additional added value on top
WAVELABS is headquartered in Leipzig. SAP Business One in the cloud allows all employees to access the ERP system from any location at any time. This allows employees to work from home without any problems and access the necessary data, even beyond the coronavirus pandemic.
"SAP Business One adapts to our processes—not the other way around. We were able to use many of the predefined processes for ourselves, and it was simply a pleasure."
Katharina Kuschel, Strategic Purchasing Supplier Management, WAVELABS
